The Hampshire Jr. Whip-Purs family is rallying around one of our own, 10-year-old Dustin Irwin, who is currently facing the fight of his life.
Dustin, a loving big brother to four younger siblings, is known for his dedication on the football field, soccer pitch, and wrestling mat. On Friday, September 27th, Dustin was rushed to the emergency room after experiencing severe headaches and vomiting. Doctors discovered a large brain tumor, and he immediately underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure in his brain.
On Monday, September 29th, Dustin endured a nine-hour surgery to remove the tumor. His recovery journey has only just begun, and while the procedure went as expected, Dustin remains in the pediatric intensive care unit. He is responding to his family and medical team, but he continues to face pain, nausea, and the challenges that come with such a serious condition.
On September 30th, the Jr. Whip-Purs community came together for a prayer vigil to lift up Dustin and his family. The love and support shown that evening reflects the strength of our small-town spirit—we are at our best when we stand together.
The Irwin family has always been active in our community, supporting their children’s activities and bringing people together. Now, it’s our turn to support them. The costs of medical care, travel, meals, and time away from work are overwhelming. To help ease the burden, a GoFundMe page has been created, and 100% of the proceeds from Dustin support shirts will go directly to his family.
