Dear Jr. Whip-Purs Family
Tonight at practice one of our 11U athletes was injured during a routine tackle drill. Fortunately the Jr. Whip-Purs have several paramedics serving as coaches who immediately assessed the situation. The young man responded positively to all tests indicating mobility and feeling, but as a precaution the organization called 911. Hampshire and Pingree Grove Paramedics were on scene in less than 15 minutes and the athlete was airlifted to a local hospital for further evaluation. All indications are that this young man will make a full and speedy recovery.
We take the well being of our athletes seriously, and our coaches train them to play the game safely. We would like to thank everyone for their support and respect during the time at the field tonight. Our Jr. Whip-Purs Family is strong and we know he will pull through.
Please know that as a parent of both a football player and cheerleader that I understand how worried many of you were when you arrived to pick up your kids and saw an ambulance on the field. I deeply care about every single one of the 400 kids playing in our program, and truly think of you all as family. That is why I wanted to be up front and completely honest with you all. We value the health and safety of our children above all else in this program and will continue to promote safety first. I assure you that our athletes are safe.
Tonight, our hearts are with this boy and his family. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your understanding.
President, Hampshire Jr.Whip-purs Football and Cheer
