Jr Whip-Pur Wins IL Senior State Wrestling Championship

Over the weekend one of our very own Jr Whip-Purs made history. Knox Homola capped off an incredible youth wrestling career by becoming the 2024 Senior IL State Champion for the stacked 215lb weight class!

"I met Knox when I first moved to Hampshire back in 2019. This kid continued to improve every year, just getting better and kept climbing the podium from 6th Place in 2022, to 3rd place 2023 until finally becoming State Champ in 2024," said Hampshire Jr Whip-Purs President Jesus Martinez. "We are all super proud of him. Now go do big things in high school young man. Make sure they remember your name!!!!"

As an 8th grader at Hampshire Middle School, Knox experienced an abrupt end to his final season with the Hampshire Jr Whip-Purs when he sustained a broken arm during one of his last games at 13U. Despite being chosen to participate in the National All-Stars Tournament in Naples, FL alongside teammates Chase Chaidez and Gavin Beauchamp, Knox made the tough decision to prioritize his recovery to ensure he could give his all in the Wrestling Championship. His commitment paid dividends as he achieved an undefeated record in Middle School competition and showcased his prowess on the club circuit as part of the Riot Room, Hampshire High School's wrestling feeder program.

Looking ahead, Knox is poised to excel in both football and wrestling at Hampshire High School next year. We anticipate remarkable achievements from this exceptional young athlete. Congratulations, Knox – we take immense pride in having you as a valued member of the Jr Whip-Purs Family!
