On Sunday August 18th, the Hampshire Jr Whip-Purs will participate in the Gridiron Wars football jamboree at Dundee Corwn High School (1500 Kings Rd, Carpentersville, IL 60110 ).  In total, there will be 88 teams from 13 different organizations joining us for an action-packed day.  This event allows our coaches to see our football players in action before the season starts. This event shouldn't be viewed as "games" as much as an extended practice, as each team will be given a defensive series and an offensive series versus the standard four downs and turnover format.

To ensure the event runs smoothly, we need your cooperation. Here are some important details to keep in mind:

Concessions and Tailgating:

• Tailgating and grilling are not allowed in the parking lots. However, our concession stands inside the field will offer a variety of hot food, snacks, and drinks. We accept Cash, Venmo, or Zelle.
• A satellite concession stand near the scoreboard will sell drinks and pre-packaged snacks, also accepting Cash, Venmo, or Zelle.

Gate Fee:

• The gate fee is CASH ONLY, and there is no ATM on site. The fee is $5 for everyone over age 5. Kids 5 and under are free. Rostered players and coaches get in free with a Pop Warner Coaches Badge or a government-issued photo ID.

Merchandise:

• An on-site vendor will be selling Gridiron Wars 2024 shirts. Stop by to get your shirt personalized with your player's name!

Field Etiquette:

• Teams might share a sideline with an opponent or move into an area occupied by another team. This is a family event for the kids, so let's all demonstrate positive behavior and great sportsmanship.
• Fields will be roped off, and only players and coaches are allowed behind the ropes. Fields 1 and 2 have bleacher seating available. Chairs are welcome at fields 3-6. Fans are not allowed on the track near fields 1 and 2.

Game Timing:

• The scoreboard will keep the official time for all 6 fields. When the horn sounds, the scrimmage ends immediately.  Clear the field promptly so the next team can begin, allowing your team time to grab water and move fields. The next scrimmage will start with the sound of the horn, regardless of whether your team is ready.

Assistance and Conduct:

• Chicagoland Pop Warner board members and commissioners will be in attendance. If you have questions or concerns, look for someone in a light blue event shirt – they are designated leaders and can assist you.
• Please respect the officials. We have secured IHSA refs for this event, and they will use it as a teaching opportunity. Instead of marching off penalty yardage, they may explain penalties to players or coaches to maximize game time and prepare players for the season.
