2024 Board Nominations Now Open

Ever consider running for the Board?

Running for a position on the Hampshire Youth Football & Cheer (HYF&C) Board of Directors is a meaningful way to make a lasting impact on our program and the lives of our young athletes. Serving on the Board gives you the chance to share your unique skills while giving back to the community and enriching the experiences of the children who participate. It’s a fulfilling role that helps you grow as a leader, build new connections, and work alongside dedicated volunteers, coaches, and parents to support HYF&C's values and goals. More than a commitment of time (though it is definitely a time commitment), running for the Board is an opportunity to shape the future of youth sports in Hampshire and inspire the next generation of athletes and leaders.

Election FAQ:

When is the Election?
The 2024 Jr Whip-Purs BOD Election will be held on December 16, 2024.  Full notice of time and location will be sent to all members prior to the meeting.

How do you Run?
Any candidate seeking office must be nominated and seconded by members of the HYFCA in good standing.  After a nomination is submitted and seconded to the Board Secretary, he will contact the nominee and verify that he or she is accepting the nomination and wishes to be placed on the ballot.  The nomination period will open on Tuesday, November 19th and close on December 9th. All nominees have until the close of business on December 10th to decide if they wish to accept or decline the nomination.

ONLY candidates nominated in this manner will be placed on the ballot for consideration.  Nominations WILL NOT be accepted from the floor on the day of the election.  Any vacant position that does not receive a nominee will be filled in the manner outlined in the organization's by-laws.

Can I Nominate Myself?
Sure.  There is nothing in the By-Laws prohibiting you from nominating yourself, but you will still need to find at least one more person to second the nomination.  From an optics standpoint, it usually looks better to have other people nominate you, but either way is allowed.

Who can Vote in this Election?
In order to be eligible to vote in the BOD election, the HYFCA member must be in good standing, and have attended in person a minimum of 6 (six) meetings of the HYFCA Board of Directors during calendar year 2024.  The December meeting may count as the 6th meeting.  All members are required to sign in at each meeting, so if you have a question of how many meetings you have attended, please inquire with the Board Secretary.

After the nomination period is closed, candidates will receive a list of the qualified voters, and be given an opportunity to address the audience at the December 16th meeting.  Ballots will be secret, and tallied by the Board Secretary along with 2 additional election judges chosen at the meeting.
