Year in Review - 2024

As the year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on all the incredible achievements, milestones, and memories that made 2024 an unforgettable year for the Hampshire Jr. Whips.

Football Highlights

In our first year back with Chicagoland Pop Warner, the Jr. Whips made an incredible impact:

  • 6 out of 10 competitive football teams reached the postseason, with 4 advancing to the Semi-Finals!
  • The standout story of the season was our two 11U teams:
    • Division 3, coached by Todd Bentley, went from a single win in 2023 to competing in the State Championship in 2024—a testament to their hard work and determination.
    • Division 2, coached by Brian Navarro, brought home the Illinois State Championship and represented us proudly at the Regional tournament, competing against Indiana’s State Champions.
  • 12U Division 2 entered the playoffs as the number one seed, while 13U made a deep and memorable run in their final season with the Jr. Whips.

Cheerleading Highlights

Our competitive cheer squads delivered phenomenal performances this year:

  • Two squads competed in Chicagoland Pop Warner competitions, both earning 2nd place finishes. The other two squads used the competitions as live practice, focusing all their effort on the ICA tournaments.
  • For the second consecutive season, all four squads advanced to the ICA State Tournament and competed in Division C.
  • Squad 7 made history, beating out two other teams to claim the Division C State Championship.

Chicagoland Pop Warner & Community Recognition

We are thrilled to share that Chicagoland Pop Warner officially voted us back in as full members for the 2025 season. The rest of the league knows we’re a force to be reckoned with—proof that while Hampshire may be a small town, we carry a big reputation!

The Village of Gilberts also honored our organization, dedicating December 11, 2024, as “Jr. Whip-Purs Day” in celebration of our Illinois State Champions. What an amazing moment for our program!

Welcoming New Board Members

At our Annual Board Meeting, we welcomed some incredible new members to the Jr. Whips Board:

  • Crystal Moreno – Director of Cheer
  • Kate Dvorin – Director of Concessions
  • Jason Diehl – Director of Equipment & Field Maintenance
  • Holly Jarovsky – Director of Health & Safety

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to outgoing members Sara Garcia de Alba, Jessica Seanz, Anna Tully, Greg Land, and Brian Berry for their service to the program.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we gear up for next season, we’re filled with excitement for what lies ahead. Our athletes, cheerleaders, coaches, and families have set a high standard, and we can’t wait to see how the Jr. Whips grow and shine in the coming year.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Jr. Whip-Purs in 2024—whether through coaching, cheering in the stands, volunteering, or helping behind the scenes. Together, we make this organization something truly special.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy New Year! Registration will open up at the end of January, and we can't wait to see you all back as we run it again next season.

With pride and gratitude,
The Hampshire Jr. Whips Board
