The Jr Whip-Purs cheer program is excited to announce a new direction, shifting from the high-cost, recreational level competition cheer to a sideline-only cheer format. This decision comes with a renewed commitment to fostering a fun, flexible, and supportive environment for our athletes while reducing costs and expanding opportunities. We will no longer be participating in any competitions, regionals or expensive nationals. Our girls will cheer at 4 home games and 2 away games within 30 to 45 miles from Hampshire.
A New Focus: Sideline Spirit and Halftime Shows
Under the new format, the Jr Whip-Purs cheerleaders will concentrate on perfecting sideline routines and delivering dynamic halftime performances at game day events. This shift allows our female athletes to fully embrace the spirit of cheering on their peers while providing them with the freedom to explore other sports or cheer organizations that can help them compete at the highest levels.
Increased Flexibility and Opportunities
One of our primary goals is to create a more flexible schedule that encourages our athletes to pursue multiple interests. Whether they want to try out for another sport, join a dance team, or participate in competitive cheer through external organizations, our athletes will now have the time and flexibility to do so. We believe that this approach will help our cheerleaders develop well-rounded athletic skills and foster a broader love for sports.
Preparing for Hampshire High School
As a feeder program for Hampshire High School, we are committed to preparing our athletes to seamlessly transition to cheering for the high school’s football and basketball teams. Under the old model, we discovered that our focus was too broad, and many of our girls were not making their high school squads. By emphasizing sideline cheer, we aim to equip our girls with the foundational skills and confidence they need to continue their cheer journey at the high school level. Girls who wish to pursue the HHS Dance team are able to join high level competitive squads while learning sideline cheer as a Jr Whip-Pur.
Creating a Fun and Supportive Environment
Our new sideline-only format is designed to be both enjoyable and inspiring. We want every athlete in the Jr Whip-Purs program to feel encouraged and valued, cultivating a lifelong love for the sport of cheer. This positive atmosphere will allow each participant to grow, develop friendships, and celebrate their passion for cheerleading.
Looking Ahead
We are excited about the possibilities that this new direction brings to the Jr Whip-Purs cheer program. With our focus on game-day performances and flexibility, we are confident that our athletes will thrive both on and off the sidelines. Thank you for supporting this new chapter as we continue to inspire, prepare, and uplift the next generation of Hampshire cheerleaders!
Scholarship Opportunities
As an affiliate of Chicagoland Pop Warner, our girls have the opportunity to apply for the Pop Warner All American Scholar Program, not offered by other privately owned programs. This program offers scholarship opportunities for our girls, positioning them for success in life after youth cheerleading.
